Roseland and Rosemont Thanksgiving Baskets 2007

Please click on the "flickr" link to view our ministry slide show from last week. If you need help please give me a call- 214-914-2948.

We were able to minister to 45 families last Tuesday night that live in either Roseland Homes or Rosemont Apts.

Here is how the evening went: 4pm MBC Servant Leaders, Daniel Ellcey and Cameron Nebe, met me at MBC to pick up the gift baskets and then came with me to Kroger and Albertsons to help load up the turkeys. We made it over to our carpool location a little tardy, but before everyone else. We moved the turkeys and baskets to the designated vehicles (representing teams-families) around 6 pm. By 6:30 we were at Roseland Homes and preparing the other Ministry Teams that were there for what about to take place. Once each Team (Alpha Blue, Bravo Blue, etc...) had all their baskets and turkeys they headed off to each of the apts. they were given. The DPD escorted each team to and from their families! While in the homes each team introduced themselves and got to know the parents/guardians, they shared about our KFC ministries and how much it means to them to work with their kids and community, after fellowshipping each team prayed with their sponsored family. For my team this was an opportunity for all my servant leaders to pray- for the family, requests, and for God provision.

After leaving each apt. unit we would signal to the officer waiting in his car that we were moving on and how many more we had to go. You should have been there...if you weren't- our teams were criss-crossing all over the community! We all finished at around 8:45 and met back at the Rec Center where we "rejoiced" together and took one of several Team pictures- at least four churches were represented!

We still had to deliver the Turkeys and baskets to Rosemont! We loaded up the willing and able- Marcos, Cameron, Daniel, and Dan Chambers and headed to Rosemont. Watermarks Ministry met us there and we started ministering around 9:30 pm!!! We were able to minister to every family on our list and some (we had extra turkeys...lesson learned from last year!). We have only been inside Rosemont for about 3 weeks with our KFC and TFC ministries- and only on Thursday night. Here we were knocking on doors until 10:30 pm on Tuesday delivering gifts and ministry to these families. What a surprise!

Everything worked out to the "T"- t for Turkey! I took my guys that had been helping us since 4 pm Tuesday afternoon to IHOP where we ate hotcakes and recounted what God had done until 12 am the next day! I love what we do- and why do it!

Always---Uncle Joe!

Please be in prayer for Christian Kaptain and others who have led our teens and kids to Christ. They will be walking their new disciple through our New Believer Ministry.

Please also pray for our Thanksgiving Basket and Turkey Ministry tonight. We will be ministering to at least 43 families living in Roseland Homes and Rosemont Apts.

Pray also for the acceptance of a proposal I drew up to rent an apt. unit inside of Roseland Homes that will be used for housing our interns, Bible Studies, discipleship, and Urban House Church.

We will be very busy (doing good things) this late-Fall and Winter Season please keep our family and extended family in your prayers. My sister, her husband, and niece are serving in Austria for over a week and a half as missionaries. Please keep their trip in your prayers as well.

Hebrews 1:3

The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of His Being, sustaining all things by His powerful WORD.

After He had provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in Heaven.

To make a long story very short...I lost my voice. This verse declares the power and authority that comes when God speaks. I asked God at the beginning of the week if He would be the one speaking and not me. I had a sore throat this weekend, yet still taught Sunday school.

Monday was a very busy office/errand day. I was able to meet with Robert Morris the Family Pastor at Firewheel Church (http://www.firewheelchurch.com/). They have a very dynamic Kids Club ministry that we will be modeling some of what we do after. We have a great time of brainstorming and fellowshipping.

Tuesday morning and afternoon we attended the funeral and burial service of Lindsey's cousin, Gena Tutton. Afterward, we went to the family and friend dinner. The time that we spent with our close family was very encouraging. Knowing that I would be leaving for Kids For Christ soon the family sent the rest of the leftovers with me. I was able to deliver the catered style sausage, spiral -cut ham, casseroles, full lunch meat/cheese platter, etc...etc... to several well-deserving families who send their kids to KFC and TFC. One mother who recieved most of the food was from Louisiana and was displaced with her seven kids (2 teens) to Dallas. They are a great family and now a very "stuffed" family. All our kids received a good dinner meal Tuesday because of the Hartley-McCullough family's generousity.

Tuesday evening is when I finally lost my voice. I did not lose it during KFC- I lost it before...just for the record book. Pueblo De Dios shared the lesson and the verse. On the night when Uncle Joe did not have his voice...we had a packed house! It was incredible! Our kids just seemed to pour in. The Huddle Time went really well.

Wednesday morning I woke up and my voice was completely shot. I knew that if the Seniors from our Senior Adult Bible Study found out that I was not going to make it they would not attend, so I wrapped up my lesson and traveled to Bible Study. God spoke through His Word and we had a great Bible Study. We have started sharing prayer requests before our hymn and prayer. Our seniors and adults are really growing...spiritually. We continued our Bible Study in Romans 1:18-2:16. Each person had something very insightful to share. Please continue to pray for this ministry.

Wednesday afternoon I traveled out to Celina to set up a ministry account with my AMF Regional Director. The banker was able to credit $200 to our account! PTL!!!

Wednesday evening- still without a voice- I started one of our three Teens For Christ Ministries at All Nations Fellowship in Garland. I ended with the whole group by myself. They had never played Upset the Fruit Basket- so after we shared our names and introductions we played UFB for a long time and then I shared the lesson (I need to learn sign language!). Everyone had a great time. The whole church is excited about starting this new TFC ministry. They are already excited about serving on one of our STAR Mission Trips!

Please pray for us tonight at Rosemont (I still do not have a voice.). I will be showing "The Jesus Video-Children's Edition" to our KFC kids tonight. This will be our second night to meet! PTL. Please also pray for our TFC ministry at Rosemont. Dan Chambers is going to start, "The Hope," video lesson series with our teens.

Praise the Lord! We have approx. 18-19 Thanksgiving Baskets sponsored! We have at least 10 more families who need sponsorships. If you are interested in sponsoring a Thanksgiving Basket and/or Turkey please contact me (starfireamf@aol.com or 214-914-2948. Thanks Again!

-sustaining all things by His powerful Word.

Where Is Your Apt. #1201?!

Please continue to prayer for:

1- Roseland Homes- In place of our Bible Club Tuesday night we took our kids to the Fall Carnival put on by JW Ray Elementary and Highland Park's NHS. We all had a great time building meaningful relationships with our kids, teens, their parents, and their teachers!

2- Senior Adult Bible Study- Wed. Mornings- we have completed verse by verse studies of Matthew, John, Hebrews, and Acts. Yesterday morning we started in Romans. Please pray for restored health to several of our Seniors who attend and those who are kept from attending due to health challenges. They have really taken huge strides in their spiritual walk and ability to ask in-depth questions.

3- Renting an Apt. Unit inside Roseland Homes- With several core guys coming on board with our ministries to serve as "Pointmen" for our ministries, we have initiated the process of acquiring a unit inside Roseland Homes. We will use this apt. for ministry interns, small Bible Studies, discipleship, resources, fun, and an Urban House Church. This has been a dream of mine for our ministries since we started up again at Roseland. Please pray that God would continuwe to be in the plans of this worthwhile endeavor as we look to anchor our "lighthouse" inside the community.

4- Rosemont Apts.- Tonight's ministry would be safe and successful! I am a basketcase right now! I will be leaving in only 3 hours!

5- Current and Future Ministry Teams- We have met with several churches (18), individual, and ministries who are and who could be serving alongside of us in our ministries. Please pray that God, in His Time, would open the door (Revelation 3:8) for the right churches to partner with us to reach the unreached.

6-Pray that we would all continually look for our Apt. #1201's!
