We were able to minister to 45 families last Tuesday night that live in either Roseland Homes or Rosemont Apts.
Here is how the evening went: 4pm MBC Servant Leaders, Daniel Ellcey and Cameron Nebe, met me at MBC to pick up the gift baskets and then came with me to Kroger and Albertsons to help load up the turkeys. We made it over to our carpool location a little tardy, but before everyone else. We moved the turkeys and baskets to the designated vehicles (representing teams-families) around 6 pm. By 6:30 we were at Roseland Homes and preparing the other Ministry Teams that were there for what about to take place. Once each Team (Alpha Blue, Bravo Blue, etc...) had all their baskets and turkeys they headed off to each of the apts. they were given. The DPD escorted each team to and from their families! While in the homes each team introduced themselves and got to know the parents/guardians, they shared about our KFC ministries and how much it means to them to work with their kids and community, after fellowshipping each team prayed with their sponsored family. For my team this was an opportunity for all my servant leaders to pray- for the family, requests, and for God provision.
After leaving each apt. unit we would signal to the officer waiting in his car that we were moving on and how many more we had to go. You should have been there...if you weren't- our teams were criss-crossing all over the community! We all finished at around 8:45 and met back at the Rec Center where we "rejoiced" together and took one of several Team pictures- at least four churches were represented!
We still had to deliver the Turkeys and baskets to Rosemont! We loaded up the willing and able- Marcos, Cameron, Daniel, and Dan Chambers and headed to Rosemont. Watermarks Ministry met us there and we started ministering around 9:30 pm!!! We were able to minister to every family on our list and some (we had extra turkeys...lesson learned from last year!). We have only been inside Rosemont for about 3 weeks with our KFC and TFC ministries- and only on Thursday night. Here we were knocking on doors until 10:30 pm on Tuesday delivering gifts and ministry to these families. What a surprise!
Everything worked out to the "T"- t for Turkey! I took my guys that had been helping us since 4 pm Tuesday afternoon to IHOP where we ate hotcakes and recounted what God had done until 12 am the next day! I love what we do- and why do it!
Always---Uncle Joe!
